For everything there is a season...

To those of you reading this,

After a great amount of prayerful consideration, it is with mixed emotions that our family must unfortunately resign from our position as missionaries to Mexico.

It has become clear through prayer and study that our family, due to a number of different circumstances, does not meet the necessary requirements for the position at this time.

We are thankful to you, as well as all of our other supporting churches, for all of the partnership and assistance you’ve given, and we are grateful to have been able to work so closely with such a wonderful congregation. We really do appreciate all of the support, specifically prayerfully and financially.

While we are saddened to have to put this journey off, the Lord has given us an overwhelming peace about what is next for our family. We had big ideas and dreams for this ministry, and while we still have a great love for the people of Mexico and hope to one day minister to them someday, sometimes the Lord has other plans for our lives.

Thank you again for partnering with us through this experience. Nothing up to this point would have been possible without you. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me directly.

In Him,

John Hyman and Family

Checking In!

Not much has really happened since my last update. We've been laying low at home since the arrival of our newest little one, and have been taking it easy while adjusting to life as a family of five.

We were at Northside Baptist Church a few weeks ago, and it was so wonderful to visit with old friends and form new friendships! Words cannot express how the members of NBC took care of us! We were made to feel welcome right from the start. Johnathan and I were even sent on a date... ALONE! This is rare, friends! We were able to share our ministry with the people of Northside, and really felt that our hearts for Mexico came across well. We are still blown away by all of the gifts, prayers, and friendships we left with that weekend.

As I said earlier, we haven't been too busy in the last couple of months. We have been enjoying being home and attending services at our home church. We've been doing things like going to parks and spending time with our friends and family.

Penny is growing like a weed, and is nearly four months old! She loves to snuggle and smile, and nobody can make her laugh and smile like Daddy or Abby can! She is such a joy to our family!

Ellie Grace is closing in on two years old! She is our wild child, and is definitely keeping this mama on her toes. She is still into everything, but is becoming much more independent and vocal by the day. Some of her favorite things are Minnie Mouse, Cheetos, and following big sister Abby around every second of the day!

Abby Kate has started "school" at home, and is doing wonderfully with letters, numbers, colors, and other starting points. She would live outside if we'd let her, loves going to Cubbies every Wednesday, and lives for quality time. We've found that one-on-one time makes this girl thrive! She was especially thrilled when John took her out for a special Daddy-Daughter Date Night hosted by our local Chick-Fil-A. She is learning and growing so much, and so quickly! Here she is with her sassy new haircut.. one that was necessary after she attempted to cut it herself!

John just returned last month from a mission trip to India with a group from our church. He was blessed to be able to go do ministry side by side with some of our closest friends. We sure missed him, and were glad for him to come back! The next couple of months for us include a homeschool conference, our sixth wedding anniversary, several family birthdays, and hopefully a trip to Mexico this summer for all five of us!

Thanks for keeping up with our little family on this crazy ride we're on!

We're Back!

After a long blogging hiatus, we are back.. and things are different around here!

For starters, we have another baby! Just two weeks ago, on January 8th, sweet Penny Lou Hyman was born! She is healthy as can be, and is the sweetest little thing. Abby Kate is beyond obsessed with her, while Ellie still isn't quite sure what to think. Abby loves to fulfill her role as big sister by helping us out with Penny. Her favorite task is picking out Penny's outfits! She has quite the flair for fashion. :)

We just spend most of our time keeping up with our three wild things. They keep us busy, that's for sure! We have adjusted to life as a family of five quite well, and are thankful that the transition wasn't as difficult as we thought it'd be. We are, however, ready to get back out on the road! We had to slow down on deputation because we switched agencies, and now that all of that is done with, we can get back to making appointments and meeting with churches.

We have our first mission conference of 2015 in just a couple of weeks! We are so excited to be at Northside Baptist Church with Bro. Mark Dallalio and the church family there. They have already blown us away with emails and inquiries of special needs or requests our family might have. They have been so welcoming and have really blessed our family... and we aren't even scheduled to be there for another two weeks!

Please be praying for our family in several different areas:

We are in need of a laptop for deputation as our macbook bit the dust.

Safety while we travel all over Texas and to some other parts in the US.

Be in prayer that our kiddos will do well on the road, or that everyone will do well when John goes out to appointments alone and Kristina stays home with the kids.

Kristina needs quite a bit of dental work to have her impacted wisdom teeth removed. The way they've grown in has caused nerve damage to two other teeth so she has to have a root canal and a tooth extraction. As you can imagine, this is daunting to her as a stay at home mom to three little ones, and is also a large financial obligation.

We trust and know that the Lord will provide, and sincerely appreciate those of you who pray for us. This is such a unique journey to be on, especially with three little girls, and we are looking forward to making memories and meeting new friends.

In Christ,

The Hyman Family

And we're off!!

I am coming to you today from Florida!!!! We left on Friday evening, and took our time getting here so we were able to stop in different cities along the way.

I promise Ellie Grace is in this picture somewhere. :)

We have been so blessed to have been put up in a condo that God provided through a sweet, sweet family that is very dear to us. It is so nice!!!! It has a bedroom, living room, full kitchen, and big bathroom. It is nice, with two little ones, to have some space instead of being cramped together in one hotel room. There is a playground on site that we are going to explore in a little bit.. Abby Kate can't wait! We stopped at the Harrison County Sand Beach in Mississippi and let the girls check out the sand and water for the first time. Abby Kate loved it! She splashed and played in the water, and collected some great seashells before we got back on the road. Ellie Grace didn't care much for it... I think she was a little mad that we woke her up to get out of the car. :)

So far today has been a pretty low key day for us. We slept in a bit, and then went out to play on the park here at the property we are staying on. It's been a day of reenergizing, and working on getting the kiddos back on a schedule. The girls slept most of the way here, and we lost an hour on the drive over here, so Abby's sleep schedule is a bit off.

We are looking forward to our conference that starts tomorrow, and are excited to reconnect with friends we haven't seen in a while! Neither one of us has attended before, and we are both excited to see how God will pour into us through the different elements of the meeting. We are still having a hard time believing that this is all really happening. John and I keep looking at each other in the car saying, "I can't believe we are really in Florida and on deputation!" It has been so awesome (and a little crazy) to see how God has orchestrated everything to come together for this journey to take place. We can't wait to see what else is to come!

Until next time!
